Openbare bibliotheek Holborn, Verenigd Koninkrijk

Holborn Library in London has reopened after a major refurbishment that preserves its mid-century modern charm while introducing modern, inclusive design. Originally built in 1959–60, the library was a pioneering example of post-war architecture. The redesign respects its historical significance while adapting to contemporary needs with flexible spaces, enhanced study areas, an expanded children’s library, a new lounge, and a creative makerspace. Sustainability was a key focus, with much of the original furniture repurposed. The layout is fully accessible and user-friendly, promoting a welcoming environment for learning, creativity, and community engagement.
